Regular backups are an insurance policy for your business. It doesn’t matter how big your business is, regular backups are essential to securing your company’s network. In fact, regular backups may arguably be the single most important step you take for preventing a network disaster.

People are not infallible. They make mistakes, and actually, they make them quite often. Emails containing viruses are accidentally opened every day and important files are often mistakenly deleted. There’s no reason to fear these issues if you take frequent incremental snapshots of your systems. You can simply restore to a snapshot taken before the virus happened. Or you can recover the file from a time before it was deleted. It’s really easy to protect from the little things and there’s the added benefit of being ready for the big things as well.

Statistics from FEMA indicate that 40 percent of businesses fail to open after suffering a natural disaster and additional 25 percent fail within a year. The United States Small Business Administration also finds that a whopping 90 percent of businesses fail two years after suffering a disaster. Part of the problem has to do with failure to back up data, leaving businesses starting from scratch following a disaster.

Unfortunately,  too many businesses still don’t perform proper backups. Oone study in particular found that 60 percent of small businesses don’t back up daily and  some of these companies don’t perform backups at all.

While hackers can only  steal digital information,  thieves steal  actual computers, smartphones, hard drives, or even servers from homes, businesses, or storage facilities. Once stolen, it is unlikely you’ll ever see it again. If you backup your data to an external space such as the Cloud, you’ll still be able to access it even if your computer is stolen, and you’ll be able to re-download the information to your new software and hard drives.

Backing up your computer means you are taking a proactive approach to your data. Consider it your way of taking an insurance policy out on your computer that will protect you from the internal and external forces that threaten its safety. If you don’t backup your computer today, you are at risk for viruses, hackers, and hard drive failure that can cause you to lose your data forever.

What can Unified Technology Solutions do to ensure your data is safe and recoverable? We can set up a Completely Automatic system for you, which will help you to make sure all important files will automatically back up on a set schedule. That way you won’t have to worry about forgetting to perform a backup during a stressful time or a busy period in your business.
