What ARE Managed IT Services, and does Unified Technology Solutions do them?
To answer the question, yes, we do perform Managed IT services. And now to explain what that includes: It simply means that we are a team of computer support people who have been trained and continue to hone the skills and tricks of the trade that keep computer networks up and running smoothly for companies big and small. At UTS we help businesses manage their phone and computing needs by helping them to first design the proper size and style of network their business needs today, and a system that will be easy to add on to as their computing and phone needs grow.
We work with in house IT departments as backup, or we become the outsourced IT department, depending upon the needs of your company. AT UTS we can offer remote support so that your downtime is minimal for most problems, and we offer monitoring services in order to keep problems from happening as much as possible.
At Unified Technology Solutions we also keep up to date on what the latest risks are to your systems and we will install and monitor security software for your company. Along with that we work with you to ensure your backup procedures are in place and working properly, just in case a breach should occur.
What does all this mean? Simply it gives you the tools you need, at your finger tips, to keep your systems running efficiently, and a provider with the skills and knowledge to help your computing power keep up with the demands of a growing business.
What’s a server you ask? In this instance, we are addressing a fixed server, not a cloud based server. A server is a computer that has been specifically designed to process data. It has powerful processing speeds, large data storage and software which will manage your network of computers. A server is designed to be stationary and it’s built to be a workhorse of processing power. It has the power to keep everyone on your network sharing and collaborating. Instead of having to manually share files each end-user can be assigned the ability to access one centralized database and that in turn will allow each of you to view and update the information in real-time quickly and efficiently. Servers are also used to run operations such as email, your office printers, calendar applications, sales leads and tracking, customer databases and other collaborative software packages.
What happens when you get something new? Are you excited to have this new system? I love installing new hardware that will be less expensive to administer and maintain, and yet provide more functionailty. But something that often happens when you try to use this new thing,is that it doesn’t work like your old system did. In fact, other than the basics, you are having trouble figuring out how to take advantage of all the new features built in to your new system. It’s so frustrating.
There are several pages on Facebook where growing companies can post employment opportunities. It seems there are positions open for people who are qualified to do the work. Most of the positions are for skilled tradesman, but there are also schools, healthcare companies and tech companies who are searching for people to fill their vacancies. I belong to a local BNI chapter, and at least once a month one of the businesses in my chapter asks for referrals to people in their field who may be looking to move to a new company.
You might ask us why we named our company Unified Technology Solutions? Why didn’t we simply call your company “We Repair and Install Computers?” We called ourselves Unified Technology Solutions for the simple reason that we don’t just install computers, or repair computer problems, we help you manage all your IT challenges, and get the most out of your technology budget.
Running a business is all encompassing. When it was just you and a couple of others, keeping up with IT demands was simple. Now you have 30 employees, a layer of management and managing your IT needs is interfering with your mission.
Growing a business or non-profit adds new layers of computer and data management skills. The prospect of losing valuable information because backups are not performed is something you will need to plan for. Disruption of services due to a network problem can be very costly. Hiring just one person to try and cover a multiple number of devices can work for a while, but even if you do have an IT person, there are times when one person simply cannot do it all.
Whatever cost savings you think you get by attempting to manage your IT needs in house can quickly disappear with one bad outage. It’s still early in the year, and planning to have managed IT services through Unified Technology Solutions is something we would like for you to consider.
We also want to let you know that at Unified Technology Solutions not only can we maintain and repair your computers, we can also help to integrate your Phone service. There are some state of the art VOIP solutions for companies which save you money, but also give you tremendous flexibility.
Give us a call, let’s have a chat, see how we can help you out.
